Spring-lock cable connectors
| Older vehicles in particular can sometimes be a big challenge when it comes to undoing spring-lock connectors. Lines in the wheel well can be heavily corroded. As a result, when the accumulator is replaced, considerable difficulty can be experienced during removal. On some occasions, the connection is so rigid that it cannot be loosened using the release tool. To ensure that the entire line also does not need to be replaced, special caution should be used here. |
Before you open the refrigerant lines, ensure that the system is empty (purged)!
After the retaining clamp has been removed from the spring-lock connector, remove all contamination and corrosion from the line.
You can now cut off the cleaned line on the accumulator side.
The remaining part of the line is then carefully cut.
Now slowly bend and remove the remaining part of the line.
Use a grinder (Dremel) and compressed air to remove the residual contamination. After the spring washer has been replaced and the O-rings have been exchanged and wettened with oil, the new dryer can be fitted. Before you refill the system with refrigerant, a leak test (forming gas/vacuum) must be carried out.
