HELLA satisfies the increased demands for intelligent vehicle electronics solutions with a wide-ranging, innovative sensor portfolio covering accelerator pedal sensors, position sensors, steering sensors, medium sensors, air-conditioning sensors and rain/light sensors.
The HELLA rain/light sensor is the first combination sensor of this kind to be offered on the market. Thanks to reliable detection of rain and splash water, the sensor works with the wiper electronics to control the windshield wipers automatically. Depending on the amount of rain, the large measuring range permits high sensitivity with regard to the wiper activation and intervals. Moreover, the sensor measures the ambient brightness and thereby provides for automatic switching of headlamps and reversing lights for corresponding light conditions.
The compact and light sensor (dimensions 49 mm x 25.75 mm, weight > 42 grams) can be easily integrated into existing environments via the LIN bus (Local Interconnect Network) and thus communicate with other sensors and actuators.
With the compact and reliable HELLA rain/light combination sensor, customers receive the unique opportunity to use the rain detection and the ambient light detection in a single sensor. This makes it possible to control the corresponding vehicle functions such as wipers and daytime running lights automatically. This contributes to increased traffic safety in the area of forklifts, too, because the driver no longer has to concentrate on manual control. Thus, for example, accidentally not switching on the daytime running light is now a thing of the past—and seeing and being seen are ensured even in poor light conditions. The instrument lighting can also be controlled via the rain/light sensor.
In addition, the automatic wiper control effectively prevents rain and splash water from obstructing the field of vision. That way the driver can optimally concentrate on the path of travel or work area. The large, uniform measuring range of the sensor provides for optimum sensitivity with regard to activating the windshield wipers, as well as consistent wiper behavior. The wiper interval is automatically adjusted, depending on how intense the rain is (for example, drizzle or pouring rain).
This sensor is also user-friendly. This is illustrated, for example, through its automatic activation of the windshield wipers and—depending on the rain conditions (e.g. drizzle vs. pouring rain)—its harmonic windshield wiper movements. The large, uniform measuring range of the sensor, which is especially important for trucks, ensures optimum sensitivity with regard to activating the windshield wipers, as well as consistent wiper behavior.
Trust HELLA"s high level of electronics expertise when selecting rain/light sensors for forklifts, too, and benefit from our many years of experience in the field of sensors as well as our exceptional OE know-how.
