Insufficient engine power malfunction indicator lamp illuminates sporadically

Complaints about insufficient engine power have been received with respect to the aforementioned vehicles.

MIL (malfunction indicator lamp) illuminates sporadically, in addition the following fault codes are set.

· P0171 (air / fuel ratio lean)

· P0300 (misfire on multiple cylinders detected)

· P0303 (cylinder 3 - misfire detected)

· P1300 (EOBD error due to empty tank)

The cause of the aforementioned problem can be a dirty EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation valve) (figure 1 / 2) and/or an EGR channel that is blocked with impurities

(figure 3) in the intake manifold.

Remedy:

  • Release the plug connection and remove the EGR valve
  • Check the EGR valve and replace if necessary
  • Remove the intake manifold
  • Check EGR channels for impurities and clean if necessary (use a suitable tool)
  • Install the intake manifold
  • Carry out a test drive
  • Read the faults using a diagnostic unit and delete them if necessary
