Replacing the rear lights

General information:

Caution: risk of burns. The lamps may still have residual heat from previous operation.

Never touch the glass bulbs of the lamps with bare hands.

To replace the lamps, proceed as follows:

  • Switch off the ignition and light switch
  • Open the tailgate
  • Fold down the plastic cover in the trunk on the driver's side (figure 1).
  • Remove cover (figure 2)
  • Loosen the plastic nuts of the rear light fastening in a counterclockwise direction (figure 3) and take the rear light out of the holder (figure 4).
  • Loosen the plug connection of the electrical cable (as indicated, figure 5)

  • Loosen the lamp holder of the stop light in a counterclockwise direction and remove it (figure 6)
  • Replace the defective lamp with a new one (figure 7).
  • Insert the lamp holder and fix it in position in a clockwise direction
  • To replace the lamp for the direction indicator light and rear light positions 2 and 3 (figure 8), proceed as described for the stop light (figure 6/7)
  • Connect the plug connection position 1 (figure 9) to the rear light. Ensure that the electrical cable position 2 is fitted correctly (figure 9)
  • Check function

· Re-insert the rear light and secure with the plastic nuts (figure 3) by turning in a clockwise direction

· To replace the rear lights on the front passenger side, open the cover on the right (figure 10)

  • Loosen the plastic nuts (figure 11) of the rear light fastening in a counterclockwise direction and take the rear light out of the holder
  • Continue as described above for the driver's side
