Replacing the differential pressure sensor

If it is necessary to replace the differential pressure sensor on the above-mentioned vehicle, it is advantageous to be fully aware of the installation position.

The sensor, wrapped in heat protection foil, is located behind the hose of the charge air cooler, as shown in (Fig. 1). In order to access the sensor, the charge air hose or the charge air pipe has to be removed as seen in (Fig. 2). This is done by removing 2 screws in the lower section. Loosen the hose clip at the top of the charge air cooler(Fig. 3). Now it will be possible to remove the hose/pipe combination (Fig. 4). After opening/removing the heat protection foil, the sensor becomes visible. It can now be replaced with a sensor, for example, from HELLA (Part no: 6PP 009 403-221).

After replacing the sensor, the error memory should be cleared with the aid of a diagnostic device, e.g. the Hella-Gutmann Mega-Macs series, and a test drive carried out.

IMPORTANT

On this vehicle with the engine code CXHA, the differential pressure sensor “teaches” or programs itself, while the vehicle is being driven.
