Citroen C4 Picasso - Inoperative rear lighting | HELLA

Citroen

C4 Picasso

Model year: 2007 onwards

Equipped with bend lighting.

Inoperative rear lighting.

If it is reported that rear lighting is inoperative for the vehicles listed above, a defective vehicle level sensor may be assessed as a potential cause.

The message "Bend lighting defective" may appear on the instrument panel's multi-functional display (EMF); the indicator light for low beams flashes at the same time.

Additional information may indicate the fault pattern mentioned above, such as:

- The position of the headlamps centred or pointing downward slightly. The alignment of the headlamps also cannot be changed using steering angles/steering angle changes.

- Furthermore, correct functionality of the air suspension is not provided.

- An error code does not have to be filed for this error.

These fault patterns with the present symptoms indicate a defective vehicle level sensor. Both systems— the lighting and the air suspension— require the signal from the vehicle level sensor. The headlamps switch to emergency mode if the lighting system does not receive a signal or the signal is not plausible.

In such a case proceed as follows:

- Check the plug connector and wiring for the sensor(s). If no problems can be found, an internal fault in the sensor must be assumed. In this case, damage to the sensor may have been caused by corrosion or the formation of cracks.

- Replace the vehicle level sensor.

As a recommendation:

- We recommend using the Hella special spray when installing the connector. It permanently protects and insulates all electronic and electromechanical components from leakage currents, short circuits and corrosion caused by splashes, condensation, flooding or high humidity.

- Hella part No.: 9XH 184 965-802 (MPS 100)

Then tune the vehicle's suspension and adjust the headlamps according to the manufacturer's instructions.

MPS 100
