Warnings and malfunctions in driver assistance systems
In the case of the vehicle type mentioned above, warning messages relating to the driver assistance systems may be displayed on the instrument cluster, and certain functions, such as Audi Pre Sense or Lane Keeping Assist, may be temporarily restricted or unavailable.
The fault pattern occurs without any apparent external influences and is not necessarily permanent.
This may be caused by a software error in the control unit of the front camera.
As part of the troubleshooting process, the area around the front-facing camera should be checked first. Such an inspection includes, amongst other things, checking the power supply and the earth connections. It is also important to ensure that there are no external factors – such as dirt in the camera area, damage to the cover or bracket, or contact issues with the plug connections – that could impair the camera’s operation.
If no definite faults have been identified in the periphery during troubleshooting, updating the front camera’s control unit software in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions may resolve the issue.
This involves updating the control unit software and restoring the functioning of the affected driver assistance systems. Once the software update has been completed, the necessary basic settings must be configured and, where applicable, the front camera is to be calibrated in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
A software update can be carried out, for example, via Hella Gutmann macsRemote Services or by using a pass-through-capable diagnostic device from the mega macs series. Furthermore, registered access to the vehicle manufacturer's online portal is required. If the appropriate equipment is not available, please contact an authorised specialist workshop.
Once the cause of the fault has been eliminated, delete the error memory and then carry out a test drive.
