Folding top stops shortly after having started the closing process
In the above-mentioned vehicle type, the electro-hydraulic folding top may stop shortly after having started the closing process, warning signals may sound and the boot lid may remain locked.
If the above-mentioned fault applies and no definite faults have been identified in the periphery of the affected systems during troubleshooting, pay particular attention to the wiring harness around the left-hand boot hinge.
If there is a line break or high contact resistance in the wiring harness, often caused by repeated kinking around the hinge, signals from the Hall-effect sensors and micro switches are lost or distorted. As a result, the superordinate control unit is no longer provided with a plausible status, can no longer determine the actual position of the roof and cancels roof movement for safety reasons. The control unit locks the lock to prevent the roof from colliding with the boot lid.
For troubleshooting, check the roof control parameters using a suitable diagnostic unit. If the values are implausible, for example the value of the boot lid switch position remains static, the status of switches and Hall-effect sensors required for roof control jumps back and forth or is implausible with respect to the actual roof position, visually check the roof control wiring harness.
For this purpose, initially expose the wiring harness around the hinge and check individual wires for breaks, damaged insulation or corrosion.
If you identify faults, replacing the complete wiring harness may eliminate the issue.
Once the cause of the fault has been eliminated, delete the fault memory and then go for a test drive as a final step.
