Il s'agit ici d'un agrégat supplémentaire qui augmente la portée du véhicule électrique.

En règle générale, les Range Extender sont des moteurs à combustion qui propulsent un alternateur et alimentent en électricité le moteur électrique ainsi que les accumulateurs.
