How core-free brake calipers save time and money
Until now, workshops have often been spending a lot of time and effort replacing brake calipers, an everyday task. Processing the core charge related to remanufactured ("reman") parts was particularly time-consuming and unnecessarily complicated for a long time. Since introducing core-free brake calipers as new parts (in the "Newman" series), HELLA has been offering an efficient alternative to traditional remanufactured parts. Workshops and wholesalers benefit – both logistically and economically.
No core charge, no stress!
Until now, this is how a brake caliper was usually replaced on the independent aftermarket: You remove the old part, buy a remanufactured brake caliper with a core charge, send the old part back, have it checked, and wait for core charge to be refunded – A process that takes time and also ties up warehousing space and capital. HELLA was the first supplier in the European IAM market to eliminate this hurdle back in 2018 under the former joint venture structure, with the introduction of new parts without a core charge, called "core-free calipers". It was a real pioneering achievement that is becoming more relevant today than ever before.
Core-free brake calipers enable greater efficiency
Getting rid of the core charge on old parts makes everyday workshop life much easier. No old parts need to be collected, stored or returned. This saves space and cuts down on administrative effort. At the same time, it frees up capital because the core charge doesn't have to be financed while waiting for a refund. As a result, core-free brake calipers significantly benefit small and medium-sized companies in particular – both logistically and financially.
Full programme, full performance
The core-free brake calipers in the "Newman" range from HELLA are in no way inferior to the conventional variants – quite the opposite: The product range currently includes around 500 items with customised premium accessories. In addition to rubber parts and grease, this also includes guide bolts, which make the replacement easier and mean that no expensive additional purchases need to be made. HELLA is therefore ensuring that the sliding mechanism of the floating caliper continues to function reliably after the replacement – so that the brake pads wear evenly and quietly.
Core charge or core-free? Both from a single source
By combining traditional remanufactured ("reman") parts and core-free new parts ("Newman"), HELLA covers the complete range of brake caliper requirements. They can be selected on a case-by-case basis depending on preference or customer requirements. This gives workshops the freedom to decide which concept is better suited to each application or process. However, some things remain the same: the tested quality, easy handling and maximum security of supply.
Two systems, one goal: Maximum flexibility for workshops
HELLA has set a milestone with its move towards core-free brake calipers. The vision was clear: less effort, more efficiency, all while providing products that fulfil the highest quality requirements and give workshops real added value. Today, it is clear how forward-looking this approach was: after all, in a market that is under increasing pressure to be efficient, simple solutions are often the best.
