ABS warning light illuminates

Error code: 1486

System function test activated

If the above error is discovered together with an illuminated ABS warning light, the ABS/ESP control unit will automatically initiate a function test. During this test, the transversal acceleration, pressure and longitudinal acceleration sensors are tested. One possible cause of the problem could be a previous repair or implausible sensor signals.

In this case, a basic setting routine must be carried out.

Basic setting

Carrying out a basic setting routine

  1. Start the engine
  2. Forcefully press down on the brake pedal until the ABS/ESP warning light flashes. A brake pressure of at least 30 bar must be applied.
  3. Take a test drive lasting no more than 50 seconds at a speed between 15 and 30 km/h while steering around a corner that requires you to turn the steering wheel at least 90 degrees.
  4. The indicator lamps must be extinguished.
  5. Basic setting routine completed.

The error is automatically cleared following a successful basic setting routine.

The ABS/ESP system must not actively intervene during the test drive!
