Software error causes starter post-run
In the above-mentioned vehicle type, it may be possible that the starter does not switch off after having started the vehicle. A possible cause may be a software deviation in the engine control unit, which continuously actuates the starter.
The problem has been identified by the vehicle manufacturer and eliminated as part of a service campaign involving changing the control unit software. However, it cannot be ruled out that individual vehicles have not yet been updated. If vehicles with the described symptom are brought to the workshop, check whether the update has already been carried out. If necessary, contact the vehicle manufacturer or a workshop authorised by the said manufacturer.
For instance, use Hella Gutmann macsRemote Services or a mega macs series PassThru-capable diagnostic unit to update the software. For this purpose, registered access to the vehicle manufacturer's online portal is required. If you do not have the appropriate equipment, we recommend to commission an authorised specialist workshop.
Once the cause of the fault has been eliminated, delete the fault memory and then go for a test drive.
