Accumulation of water in the spare wheel well leads to failure of the fuel pump control unit
With the above-mentioned vehicle type, it can happen that water enters the vehicle through the rear area and collects in the spare wheel well. If these accumulations of water come into contact with the fuel pump control unit, there is a risk that this control unit will fail and, as a result, the fuel supply to the engine will also fail.
The problem has been identified by the vehicle manufacturer and rectified during the course of a service campaign.
Nevertheless, it is still possible that not all vehicles affected have been "rectified".
So as to prevent an unexpected failure of the fuel pump control unit in the future, the spare wheel well must be checked for water ingress, a water drain plug installed and the fuel pump control unit replaced if necessary.

Once the cause of the fault has been rectified, delete the error memory and then carry out a test drive.
