Hyundai Getz - The engine misfires and loses power | HELLA

Hyundai

Getz

Model year: 2003–2005

Engine: 1.1l petrol (G4-HD)

The engine misfires and loses power, the engine malfunction indicator light comes on.

If a customer complains that the engine for the above-mentioned vehicle is experiencing an ignition failure and losing power, and that the engine malfunction indicator light comes on, this might be caused by a worn crankshaft sprocket.

The following error codes may be saved in the 'engine' system's event memory.

Error code `the same as`:

- P0300,`Ignition failure, misfiring`.

- P0301,`Ignition failure, cylinder 1`.

- P0304,`Ignition failure, cylinder 4`.

Due to the possible error — 'worn crankshaft sprocket' (the manufacturer is aware of this problem) — the cause of which is purely mechanical, the engine timings can be delayed and lead to ignition failure. The manufacturer is offering a modified crankshaft sprocket and a modified crankshaft screw. It is recommended that you replace the timing belt at the same time.

The spark plugs, ignition cable and ignition coil must also be checked with regard to the stored error codes.

By performing this additional check you can exclude the 'misguidance' of the error codes for the high-voltage area and the error can be confirmed as a purely mechanical source of error.
