Hatchback is permanently displayed as open, water ingress in the plug connections of the hatchback
With the above-mentioned vehicle type, it can happen that the hatchback is shown as open in the information display even though it is closed.
If no definite faults have been detected in the periphery of the affected systems during the diagnosis, special attention should be paid to the plug connections of the hatchback.
Water is leaking as a result of a defect in the water hose of the rear window washer system. This runs over the right-hand side panel in the luggage compartment and penetrates the plug connections located there. Moisture ingress causes the pins to corrode, which can lead to cable interruptions and short circuits.
In the course of further troubleshooting, the plug connections behind the right-hand side panel in the luggage compartment should be visually checked for moisture and corrosion on the pins. If there are any abnormalities detected here, replacing the damaged connector pins and also the defective washer hose can help to remedy the problem.
Depending on how advanced the corrosion is, it is possible that the cables have been so badly damaged by the penetrating moisture that the only repair solution is to replace the hatchback’s wiring harness.
Once the cause of the fault has been rectified, delete the error memory and then carry out a test drive.
