Headlamps individually designed by FORVIA HELLA are used in the new VDL FUTURA 3 series and set new standards in terms of elegance, aerodynamic design, and safety in coaches. A high-performance module is at the core component of the headlamp.

FORVIA HELLA supplys the first fully customized headlamp developed exclusively for the new VDL FUTURA 3 bus series. This innovative headlamp represents a true evolution and significant improvement not only in technology but also in design, offering a refined, modern aesthetic and enhanced functionality compared to its predecessor.

The custom-developed headlamps for the VDL FUTURA 3 are characterized by an elegant and aerodynamic design, which is emphasized by flowing reflectors with chrome accents. At the heart of the system is a high-performance module. VDL is the first bus manufacturer to apply these advanced modules, specifically engineered to meet the rigorous demands of commercial vehicles.

How is the headlamp designed in detail?

The headlamp combines all front lighting functions: low beam, high beam, position light, daytime running light and Cat 6 direction indicator. The low beam, equipped with 10 LEDs, produces a total of 900 lumens and 50 lux, while the daylight-like color temperature reduces eye strain and fatigue when driving at night. The high beam with 8 LEDs ensures homogenous illumination of the road, further increasing visibility and safety.

 

The sleek LED light guide acts as a daytime running and position lamp, giving the vehicle a striking and distinctive design. The integrated Category 6 LED direction indicator completes the appearance of the headlamp module and blends seamlessly into the redesigned vehicle front. It includes additional side turn signals, which are particularly important for long vehicles over 6 meters in length such as buses or trucks. These make changes in direction, such as turning, more visible from lateral angles.

 

FORVIA HELLA provides much more than just front lighting for the FUTURA 3, contributing to improved safety, comfort, and the distinctive identity of the bus series: from roof marker lights, interior lighting, and reversing warning systems to advanced sensors such as battery and rain-light sensors.
