Whether it’s 20 or 220 km/h: accelerator pedals and their sensors are all about precision and reliability. As the world market leader, HELLA offers upright and pendant accelerator pedals for commercial vehicles, e-cars, agricultural vehicles , construction machinery and also for special vehicles.
At walking pace and at top speed: HELLA's accelerator pedal sensors ensure that drivers can control the speed of their vehicles safely and comfortably. The accelerator pedals are part of the vehicle's drivetrain. A sensor measures the position of the pedal and transmits this data to the control unit in order to increase or decrease the engine performance. Upright pedals are used in buses, motor homes, municipal vehicles and forklifts. Pedals for pendant surface mounting are suitable for electric cars, sports cars and trucks. Off-highway pedals are extremely robust in harsh environments.
The contactless measurement of the CIPOS® sensor technology (CIPOS = Contactless Inductive Position Sensor), developed by HELLA, guarantees minimal wear.
In 1996, HELLA was the first component manufacturer to develop the so-called CIPOS® sensors for inductive, contactless position measurement, thus introducing a particularly low wear technology. These sensors are preferable to contact-type sensors for accelerator pedals, especially in the case of frequently recurring, small movements. They function reliably and accurately at temperatures ranging from -40 °C to +160 °C.
These accelerator pedal plus sensors are developed according to the latest methods and the safety guideline ISO 26262, which has been recognised as the standard since 2011. It means that such accelerator pedals and their sensors also meet the requirements of the Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) and that they boast a high mechanical and electrical robustness throughout their entire lifetime. Thanks to their EMC stability, the sensors are not affected by external magnetic fields. They stand out in sharp relief because of their high measurement accuracy and their measurement speed and they also offer various options for redundant signals in order to further increase safety.
