RokLUME 280N SMART: Intelligent work lamp with smart features

In order to increase operator safety, health and productivity in mining, construction work or forestry, the lighting and electronics specialist HELLA has developed a new work lamp. The RokLUME 280N SMART can adjust its light very individually to different weather or driving conditions.

Smart features for individual light adjustment

Experience shows that visibility in dusty, snowy or foggy conditions can be significantly improved by the light colours green and amber. With the RokLUME 280N SMART, operators can change the colour accordingly – to green or amber, depending on the variant. In addition, the intelligent work lamp is equipped with a dimming function to adjust the brightness level to the current lighting conditions. For example, the headlamp can be dimmed when there is sufficient daylight. This not only reduces power consumption, but also CO2 emissions. In addition, the colour temperature can be continuously adjusted from warm white to cold white. This can increase visibility in many different situations.

 

The right illumination for every application

The work lamp is available in six different illumination variants: with diffuse flood, close-range, long-range, pencil beam, tunnel flood or ZEROGLARE illumination. All light distributions are equipped with SMART features for individual light adjustment.

 

Easy upgrade to an intelligent system

Conventional work lamps can be converted to the intelligent work lamp RokLUME 280N SMART in no time at all. The control unit (HELLA Gateway), which is included in the scope of delivery and is required for communication with the work lamps, uses power line communication (PLC). This means that signals to the work lamp can be sent through existing wiring harness. This allows manufacturers to offer a lighting upgrade that uses the existing wiring harnesses and circuits without requiring any changes to the vehicle architecture. Mine operators and end customers can thus also convert their vehicles simply and easily.

Features for even more safety and comfort

The work lamp is equipped with lifetime management. With it, the system gives advance warning before the headlamp's service life expires, thus preventing unplanned downtime. Also integrated is an anti-theft protection and a memory function for saving individual illumination settings. The control unit is also available as a Prime variant. This offers the option of additionally equipping the vehicle with a cornering light function.


Control via HELLA control panel or HMI

The RokLUME 280N SMART is controlled with a HELLA control panel, which is included in the set. Additionally, the HELLA Gateway has a CAN bus interface. This means that the RokLUME 280N SMART can also be controlled directly via the Human Machine Interface (HMI) in the vehicle.
