How core-free brake calipers simplify wholesalers' processes

Until now, replacing brake calipers often meant everyday workshop activities resulted in more work than staff bargained for. In particular, the time-consuming core processing for remanufactured parts (also referred to as "reman" parts) has been unnecessarily complicated for too long. Since the introduction of core-free brake calipers – as new parts in the "Newman" series – HELLA has been offering an efficient alternative to traditional remanufactured parts. Workshops and wholesalers benefit – not just in terms of logistics, but also economically.

Core-free for a more efficient independent aftermarket

Up to now, replacing a brake caliper on the independent aftermarket usually involved: Removing the old part, costs for buying a remanufactured brake caliper plus a core charge, returning the old part, having returns checked – and waiting for the refund of the core. A process that not only costs wholesalers time, but also ties up warehousing space and capital. With the introduction of core-free new parts – so-called core-free calipers – HELLA was the first supplier on the European IAM market to eliminate this hurdle back in 2018 under the former joint venture structure. Wholesalers and workshops alike benefit from this innovation. Small and medium-sized companies in particular benefit noticeably from core-free brake calipers – and will want to purchase them from wholesalers. A real pioneering achievement that is more relevant today than it ever has been.

A wide range

Core-free brake calipers from HELLA's "Newman" range are in no way inferior to the conventional variants – quite the opposite: The range currently already includes around 500 items including accurately fitting premium accessories. In addition to rubber parts and lubricant, the range also includes guide bolts, which make replacement easier and eliminate the need for costly, additional purchases. HELLA thus ensures that the sliding mechanism of the floating caliper continues to operate reliably even after replacement – for even, low-noise wear of the brake pads.

Guaranteed quality for the aftermarket

At HELLA, the same, strict quality standards apply, regardless of whether or not these are core-free brake calipers. Each caliper is pressure-tested, tested for its handbrake functionality and manufactured as part of audited production processes. End-to-end traceability and high-quality surface treatment ensure additional safety – from factory to vehicle.

Core-free or not? Both from a single supplier

With the combination of traditional remanufactured parts ("Reman") and core-free new parts ("Newman"), HELLA covers the complete range of brake caliper requirements – an individual choice, depending on preference or customer requirements. This gives workshops the ability to decide which concept is better suited to the respective application or process. One element remains the same: tested quality, easy handling and maximum security of supply.

Two variants for maximum flexibility

HELLA has set a milestone with its move towards Newman core-free brake calipers. The vision was clear: less effort, more efficiency Thanks to products meeting the highest quality demands and providing wholesalers and their workshop customers with genuine, added value. Today, it has become obvious how innovative this approach has been – because on a market that is under increasing pressure to be efficient, simple solutions are often the best.
