Automechanika 2026: Hella Gutmann Solutions Sets New Standards with the SEG-Tool PRO and SEG-Tool PLUS for Professional Headlight Alignment

  • SEG-Tool PRO and SEG-Tool PLUS: Two device lines for different requirements
  • PRO Version: Camera-based real-time measurement, automatic diagnostic tester connectivity, and cloud backup for modern workshop requirements
  • Hella Gutmann Solutions combines FORVIA HELLA’s lighting technology expertise with digital workshop practices

Ihringen, 8 September 2026. Hella Gutmann Solutions, a leading provider in the field of vehicle diagnostics and workshop equipment, is presenting the new generation of professional headlight alignment tools at Automechanika 2026 in Frankfurt: the SEG-Tool PRO and the SEG-Tool PLUS. Both devices replace the proven and widely used models of the SEG IV and SEG V series, a product line that has been among the most widely used headlight alignment tools in the independent aftermarket for years.

Modern headlight systems are becoming increasingly complex. Adaptive lighting systems, Matrix LED technologies, and software-controlled functions are continuously raising the bar for testing and adjustment. At the same time, expectations regarding efficiency, documentation, and process reliability in the workshop are on the rise.

With the SEG-Tool PRO and the SEG-Tool PLUS, Hella Gutmann helps workshops meet these requirements reliably, efficiently, and in a future-proof manner.

With a modernized hardware platform, a contemporary design concept, and deeply integrated diagnostic connectivity, both devices set new standards for headlight testing and adjustment.

“The SEG-Tool PRO and the SEG-Tool PLUS are the concrete embodiment of our ‘Perfect Match’ for Automechanika 2026—and this applies to both device lines: FORVIA HELLA’s long-standing OE lighting technology expertise meets the diagnostic and workshop expertise of Hella Gutmann Solutions. For decades, our colleagues in lighting technology have been developing innovative and forward-looking headlight systems for major automakers worldwide. With the SEG-Tool PRO in particular, this OE expertise has been directly incorporated into the development of the algorithms and image processing. For repair shops, this means: “You’re investing in a future-proof system that continues to evolve alongside headlight technologies,” says Carsten Aring, product developer for the SEG series at Hella Gutmann Solutions.

Two product lines for different requirements

With the SEG-Tool PLUS and the SEG-Tool PRO, Hella Gutmann Solutions offers a clearly segmented product line for different workshop requirements. As a technologically advanced, fully digital headlight alignment tool with comprehensive connectivity and innovative features—such as the AFS selection wizard—the SEG-Tool PRO is designed specifically for workshops that regularly work with modern and complex headlight systems.

The fully digital system combines camera-based measurement technology with real-time image processing and a display of the light distribution on a capacitive 10.1-inch touchscreen that can be operated from both sides.

Automatic electronic leveling, a lithium-ion battery, and interfaces for USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth round out the technical features. For efficient vehicle identification, selection is available via the chassis number as well as the manufacturer and model code. This makes the SEG-Tool PRO the only headlight adjustment device on the European market that combines this range of functions in an integrated platform.

The SEG-Tool PLUS, on the other hand, is designed for repair shops and dealerships that prioritize standardized adjustment processes and high cost-effectiveness. With its robust analog measurement technology, it enables reliable and precise headlight adjustments without the need for software or a licensing model.

Featuring a 280 × 200 mm Fresnel lens, a green 120° alignment laser, a cross-line laser for precise positioning, and an aluminum column with a counterweight, it covers a working range of up to 1,650 mm and is suitable for passenger cars, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans, and light commercial vehicles.

The device is compatible with existing HGS and aftermarket rail systems (625 mm track width) and is ready for immediate use.

hgsCONNECT: Select Once – Automatic Data Transfer

With hgsCONNECT, Hella Gutmann integrates the SEG-Tool PRO into the digital workshop ecosystem and combines headlight alignment, diagnostics, and vehicle data into a seamless workflow.

Via hgsCONNECT, the SEG-Tool PRO is connected to compatible Hella Gutmann Solutions diagnostic software. The vehicle is selected once on the diagnostic tester, after which the vehicle data is automatically transferred to the headlight alignment tool.

This seamlessly links diagnostics and headlight alignment. Duplicate data entry is eliminated, workflows become more efficient, and potential sources of error are reduced. The vehicle-specific data and alignment algorithms help the workshop select the appropriate alignment procedure and carry out the alignment process safely.

Measurement values, light distributions, and detailed results are clearly documented in a digital measurement report and can be sent via email.

The cloud connection via Car History ensures the vehicle database is permanently backed up: In the event of a device failure, all data records can be restored immediately. Integration into existing workshop infrastructures is also possible via Workshop-Net (formerly asanetwork).

Flexible licensing model for every workshop need

The SEG-Tool PRO operates with a two-tier “Light” licensing model.

The Light License PRO 1 is free and covers all essential functions such as headlight testing and adjustment, database-driven vehicle selection, automatic level compensation, Car History, and measurement reports, including regular updates.

The PRO 2 Add-on Light License (€195.00 per year) expands the range of functions to include integration with Hella Gutmann Solutions diagnostic software, manufacturer-specific AFS (Adaptive Front Lighting System) adjustment algorithms, and the AFS selection wizard with target-actual comparison for complex adjustment processes.

The SEG-Tool PRO is available for €4,590.00 or via a lease for €99.00 per month over 60 months, including both license levels. The SEG-Tool PLUS costs €2,090.00.

With the SEG-Tool PRO and the SEG-Tool PLUS, Hella Gutmann is expanding its portfolio with two solutions that more closely integrate lighting technology, diagnostics, and digital workshop processes. Together with the diagnostic platforms, data solutions, and intelligent assistance functions of the Hella Gutmann ecosystem, they help workshops meet the requirements of modern vehicle generations efficiently and in compliance with manufacturer specifications.
