If complaints are made about the above-mentioned vehicles that the warning light for the Hill Start Assist function lights up and also that the error code C1216 is stored in the error memory, a possible cause of the problem is the software of the ABS / ESP control unit.
The following error code can be stored:
- Error code 'equivalent' to:
- C1216, `clutch pedal position switch (sensor for clutch position) – signal error, wiring harness`.
In order to analyse the error, the connector pins, the interfaces / contacts and the cable harness to the clutch pedal switch must first be inspected.
If no deviations from the norm can be found here, then corrective measures taking the form of updating and/or upgrading of the software version already installed are to be carried out with the assistance of the vehicle producer.
