The reason for this is that car manufacturers use different systems to protect vehicle data from hacker attacks. This means that the registration procedure for the OE portals differs from brand to brand. Employees of independent workshops in particular could tell you a thing or two about this: they have to log in to each OE portal individually, not to mention the problem of forgotten passwords or invalid user names. But there is a practical solution to this that prevents multi-brand diagnostics from becoming an ordeal: cyber security management for mega macs! Authenticate once with Hella Gutmann and bang – you can get started with cross-brand diagnostics without going via OE portals. Is that music to your ears? Well, we will play you a real chart hit now, because it gets even better: with software version 66, the cyber security management function is also compatible with the newer Renault and Kia models, meaning that the multi-brand solution now works with a total of twelve brands.
For owners of a mega macs X from configuration X2 or another mega macs device with an Update Plus licence, our cyber security management is free of charge. As was already the case for vehicles from Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Cupra, Seat, Skoda and VW, the CAN gateway is unlocked automatically as required in newer vehicle models from Renault, Dacia and Kia. For Renault and Kia, functions such as reading and deleting fault codes and viewing parameters are possible without cyber security management and therefore also offline. Other functions, such as actuator tests, can also be carried out on Renault models with CAN gateway without an internet connection. However, for work such as camera calibrations or coding injectors, the CAN gateway is automatically unlocked using cyber security management in the mega macs. This requires an online connection to Hella Gutmann's data server.
For those of you who frequently diagnose Fiat Chrysler vehicles, we have one more piece of information: here, the Cyber Security Management certificate is changing, which impacts unlocking the security gateway. But here’s the good news: the manufacturer's new solution has already been implemented in mega macs software version 66, which is available in good time. To be able to work with Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Jeep and Chrysler vehicles as usual, we recommend that you switch to software version 66 as soon as possible: of course, this will not incur any additional costs.
Renault Talisman Facelift (MY 2020), Zoe Facelift and Clio V from MY 2019 onwards, Captur II, Twingo III Facelift and Megane IV Facelift from MY 2020 onwards, Twingo ZE, Arkana, Dacia Spring (MY 2021) and Kia Ceed/proCeed from 2019 onwards and the rare Stinger from 2018 onwards.
