Recirculation air flap malfunction

With the above vehicles the function indicator of the AC button (Figure) may suddenly start flashing at higher speeds. In addition, the recirculation air flap is repeatedly opened and closed, often noticeable by a squeaking noise.

In this case the fault should not be sought in the recirculation air system, but the flap control. Replacement of the control unit (Figure) can often rectify the problem.
