Whether it's accepting orders, picking deliveries and delivering them - order numbers safeguard that you always receive exactly the right part. But how exactly are the numbers structured? Below, we show you what the individual digits represent.
The classification number is crucial for a quick classification. This indicates the item group to which a product has been assigned.
The first digit of the classification number describes the association with a sales item group: Sales item group (1 digit)
1 = Headlamps, headlamp inserts
2 = Lamps
3 = Acoustic signal devices
4 = Flasher unit/relay
5 = Control, regulation and monitoring equipment
6 = Switches
8 = Special equipment and parts
9 = Parts and groups for series and replacement demands
The second and third digits of the serial number contain information on the function and design of the item.
Directly after the classification number, there are another 9 digits: the so-called part number. It can then be used to describe the product in more detail. The part number consists of three subgroups: The basic number, variety number and packaging unit.
Basic number (6 digits)
The basic number designates the specific product
Variety number (2 digits)
Variety numbers from 00 to 79 distinguish left-hand versions (odd number) and right-hand versions (even number). Digits from 80 to 99 represent sets and assortments
Packaging unit (1 digit)
The last digit indicates the type of packaging, for example single or multiple packaging
