The IP rating provides information on whether the product is protected against certain environmental influences.
IP stands for International Protection. The combinations of the code numbers behind it is an indication of resistance to the ingress of solid foreign bodies, including dust, and to the ingress of water. IP rating is defined in ISO 20653.
The first code number indicates degrees of protection against the ingress of foreign bodies (dust), the second code number against the ingress of moisture or penetrating water. The exact IP rating is determined by a series of standardised tests.
