The "CAB Concept Cluster" is an association of well-known, established OEM suppliers and renowned scientists from the industry. HELLA is one of the members of this newly founded cluster. The focus was the development of an innovative concept cab under the working title of "Genius Cab". This cab was presented for the first time at bauma in Munich in 2016. The goal is to explain the great potential of efficient system integration to OEMs of construction machinery, industrial forklifts and industrial trucks. The "Genius Cab" contains innovative components from all involved association partners that set standards on the international markets with respect to safety, ease of use, operating comfort/convenience, maintenance and design. The approach of monitoring and having a say in the design of the exterior and interior of the cab is brand new. This is always done with the concrete needs of users in mind with respect to series-compatible technology.
On April 10, 2016 the Genius CAB was awarded the bauma Innovationspreis innovation award in the category “Design” in a festive ceremony at Allerheiligen-Hofkirche church in Munich. The innovation prize was awarded for the eleventh time in five categories – machine, component, building/construction methods, research and design. 118 submissions were entered from Germany and abroad. All innovations that were rewarded are sustainable, state-of-the-art economic developments with high practical benefits that contribute to energy and resource efficiency and/or to the humanization of the work environment.
