Full LED rear combination lamp for 24 V truck and trailer

Individualisation, safety and sustainability: these three keywords characterise the full-LED combination rear lamp, which the lighting and electronics expert HELLA is now launching on the market especially for 24-volt trucks and trailers. HELLA offers the full-LED combination rear lamp with a modular concept.

 

The patented HELLA LED light curtain, which realises the tail light of the full-LED combination rear lamp, can now be individually designed for the first time. For this purpose, graphic structures such as dots, stripes and shapes can be printed. "This makes the tail light the central eye-catcher and supports the branding of the manufacturers on the road. Trucks and trailers thus become unique," says Georg Fink, Sales Manager for Trailers at HELLA. "Not only for automotive manufacturers, but also for truck and trailer manufacturers, a custom light signature is ultimately becoming more and more important to stand out from the competition."

 

In addition, manufacturers are free to choose the colour of the support frame and, for example, design it to match their corporate colours. "The light lens above is available in red or clear, so the color design is visible," Fink says. As a further customisation option, manufacturers can choose whether the flashing light should be standard or dynamic.

 

In addition to the customisation options, HELLA has also further developed the light curtain technology itself. The result is a much more homogeneous appearance of the tail light, as it does not require separate optics. At 144 square centimetres, the light curtain is also almost twice as large as in previous models - so that the tail light is always visible, even at dusk or in fog, even from a distance.

With an installation space of only 55.5 millimetres in depth, the full-LED combination rear lamp has technical features that make it fit for the future. Thanks to mechanical interfaces for sensors, ultrasonic sensors can be connected on both sides, for example, to implement a parking assistant. In addition, the control for flashing side marker lights, indicator failure control and load simulation for monitoring brake lights and indicators are directly integrated into the system. This eliminates the need for additional control units, which significantly reduces the amount of cabling required and ultimately saves costs.

 

The full LED combination rear lamp is designed for the voltage range of 24 volts. The two-tone outer lens is made of impact-resistant polycarbonate (PC) and bonded to the housing. Overall, the combination rear lamp achieves the IP 6K9K degree of protection - this means that it is not only dust-tight, but also resistant to cleaning with water under high pressure. The lamp also complies with the automotive standard (ISO 26262). The lamp is available with or without rubber arm. As a standard interface to the vehicle, it has a central 7-pin DIN connector and 2-pin AMP superseal connectors for auxiliary lighting functions.
