Hella marine, a brand of the international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA, today announces the next generation of its NaviLED Compact Deck Mount Navigation Lamps. Building on a proven product family trusted by boat builders and owners worldwide, the redesigned range delivers a refined aesthetic, a more compact footprint and the most comprehensive international certification set Hella marine has achieved for a deck-mount navigation lamp - all while maintaining the safety performance and long-term reliability that define the NaviLED family.
The redesigned NaviLED Compact Deck Mount Navigation Lamps will be available globally from the end of August 2026. The range is designed to serve powerboats and recreational vessels up to 20 m (65 ft) LOA and is available as Port, Starboard, Port- & Starboard Kit and Bi-Colour variants to cover the full range of installation requirements.
"Navigation lights are sometimes treated as a simple compliance item — a grudge fitment — rather than the active safety system they truly are. With this redesign, we have raised the bar on both aesthetics and compliance, so boat builders and owners can fit a light they can trust for years to come," says Craig Beavis, Product Manager at Hella marine.
Navigation lights are safety-critical equipment. Under the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, 1972 (COLREG 72), they allow other vessels to identify a vessel's position, heading and status at night or in restricted visibility -and non-compliant lights can carry serious legal consequences during inspections, insurance assessments or liability investigations after an incident.
The redesigned NaviLED Compact Deck Mount addresses this directly with a lamp that is built to comply and built to last. Its Open Flow Design introduces clean, uninterrupted lines with no visible fasteners after installation, together with a new Clear Lens optic. An optional stainless steel bezel adds a premium finish suited to contemporary vessel styling.
Available in black, white and stainless steel housing options, the lamp integrates into modern vessel lines without compromising its function as a compliant safety device. The housing is manufactured from UV-resistant ASA polymer and the lens from high-impact, UV-resistant acrylic - materials chosen specifically to remain optically and mechanically stable under prolonged sun exposure, corrosive salt air and constant vibration across a service life of up to 20 years.
The NaviLED Compact Deck Mount carries the most comprehensive certification set in its class. Approvals include IMO COLREG 72, USCG 33 CFR 183.810, the latest American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) C-5:2024 standard, NMMA Type Accepted, ISO 19009:2015, EN60945:2002, RINA certificate, CE, RCM and UKCA - covering the key recreational boating markets across North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
Compliant visibility is ensured through tightly controlled optics and precise sector cut-offs, so the correct light - red for port, green for starboard, red/green for bi-colour - is visible only across the prescribed angles. Safety is further reinforced by Hella marine's Multivolt circuitry, which operates across 9–32V DC for both 12 V and 24 V applications. Crucially, the circuit maintains the legally required 2 NM minimum visibility even when system voltage drops as low as 9V - a vital safeguard as batteries discharge during extended passages.
The NaviLED Compact consumes a maximum of 2.3 W-a fraction of the power required by conventional bulb-based alternatives—helping to conserve limited onboard power reserves.Reverse polarity protection is included as standard. Mounting is via a simple two-hole horizontal surface-mount fixing with 120 mm of tinned marine cable, leaving no visible fasteners once installed.
The lamps achieve IP67 and IP69 protection ratings, meaning they are completely sealed against dust ingress, suitable for temporary submersion in operation and resistant to high-pressure water jet cleaning. Internal electronics are engineered to suppress both emitted electromagnetic interference and susceptibility to external emissions within the limits prescribed by international standards -protecting onboard radios, AIS, GPS and other navigation electronics from disruption.
As Craig Beavis notes: ""High-quality navigation lighting will only become more important as vessels carry more sensitive electronics and operate with greater energy awareness. The qualities modern boats increasingly need - low power draw, stable compliant output, robust sealing and EMC-focused design — are exactly what this product delivers.""
The new generation also reflects Hella marine's commitment to more sustainable product solutions: the redesigned packaging is fully plastic-free and significantly more compact, reduced from 210 mm × 146 mm × 60 mm to 185 mm × 74 mm × 42 mm, resulting in a meaningfully smaller logistics footprint across the supply chain.
All NaviLED Compact Deck Mount lamps are backed by Hella marine's 5-year warranty.
