The HELLA wheel speed sensor continuously detects the rotational speed of each wheel and provides this information to key vehicle dynamics systems such as ABS, traction control and electronic stability control. This helps support controlled braking, improves vehicle stability and contributes to safer handling in critical driving situations.
Thanks to modern Hall-effect or magnetic technology, the sensor operates contactlessly and with a high level of precision. The signals generated enable the control unit to regulate brake pressure, prevent wheel lock-up and, when required, selectively brake individual wheels to help stabilize the vehicle. As a result, the wheel speed sensor plays an important role in improving driving safety — especially on slippery roads, when cornering or during sudden braking manoeuvres.
The sensor is compact, robust and designed for demanding operating conditions. It performs reliably under extreme temperatures, moisture, vibration and other external influences. With LIN and CAN capability, it can be integrated into modern ECU architectures and is suitable for use in a wide range of vehicle segments — from electric and hybrid vehicles to commercial vehicles, buses and motorcycles.
