Lippstadt, September 12, 2017. Current trends such as autonomous driving, increasing connectivity & electrification as well as the desire for individualization increasingly impact vehicle design. According to the motto "Experience Tomorrow", the lighting and electronics expert HELLA is therefore presenting innovations in the exterior lighting of vehicles in the "New Mobility World" (Hall 3.1, booth B31) from September 12-17, 2017 at the International Automotive Exhibition (IAA).

Already today, lighting on vehicles plays an increasing role not only for safety, but also as design element. Headlamps, rear combination lamps, individual signatures for daytime running lights and rear light graphics provide a unique appearance. Additional possibilities result from graphics projected onto the ground or illumination of the boarding area when unlocking the vehicle. This function has now been used for a while in premium class vehicles and, more recently, even in some volume models.

Driven by current market trends and technological advances enabling the reduction of lighting components such as optical systems and the development of other electronic control concepts, opportunities for playing the gallery regarding the vehicle body itself increase. This applies equally to door frames, lateral hemlines or radiator grilles. Lighting functions can also be implemented for marking the vehicle and signaling certain driving conditions.

HELLA will illustrate various new styling and individualization functions via an exhibition vehicle at IAA. It will for example create a welcome light scenario on the basis of micro-optics. The current state of development can already be experienced here. For lighting projections welcoming the driver are created dynamically and in many colors. The entire front of the car features special lighting, via radiator grille lighting as well as light guides in the headlamps and outside mirrors. The company also presents alternative warning scenarios and exemplary lighting solutions for future interactions between autonomously driving vehicles and their surroundings. A radiator grille light will for example signal to pedestrians that it is possible to safely cross the road.

Visit HELLA at the IAA from September 12-17, 2017 and experience today the technologies of tomorrow in Hall 3.1, booth B31.
