Lippstadt, December 17, 2020. Light functions are becoming increasingly intelligent. This also increases the complexity of lighting systems. Numerous lighting and electronic components have to be integrated and coordinated with each other. This is the only way to implement new front lighting functions such as glare-free high beam or light animations for greeting and farewell scenarios. Based on its broad system expertise in the fields of lighting and electronics, the internationally positioned automotive supplier HELLA is one of the world's first providers to launch an overall approach for complex lighting systems. The system consists of matrix LED headlamps, electronics for light control and the necessary sensor technology in combination with innovative software solutions. HELLA received an innovation prize in China for this so-called "Light Design" approach. This prize was awarded jointly by the leading trade journal Automobil Industrie in China and the Institute of Automotive Engineering (ika) at RWTH Aachen University. The decisive criteria were development innovation and industry influence.

"We are very pleased to receive this award. HELLA has been dedicated to innovative lighting solutions for more than 100 years. This award is further proof for our leading position in this field," says Harpak Mozaffari Gilani, who is responsible for HELLA's headlamp business in the Asia-Pacific region. "With our Light Design approach, we are able to meet the growing demand for complete lighting systems and add great value for our customers."

With the "Light Design" approach, HELLA is able to integrate all lighting and electronic components for complex lighting systems into an overall system based on a flexible, modular construction kit. HELLA also supports the specification of interfaces between the individual components and the development of the optimum light for the driver. In addition, automotive manufacturers receive innovative software solutions for the simulation of lighting functions (ALiSiA) or for the design of animations (GAIN).
