Essen, 24 August 2021. As a full-range supplier, Hella Pagid, the Essen-based brake systems specialist for the independent aftermarket, which operates in a joint venture with automotive suppliers TMD Friction and HELLA, offers more than 14,000 brake spare parts for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. Now the company is planning to expand its range of brake discs for selected Mercedes models and markets to include one-piece brake discs.

From the end of 2021, Hella Pagid will be offering these one-piece brake discs made of high-carbon grey cast iron. It will be an attractive and economical alternative to the two-piece composite brake discs supplied with selected Mercedes models ex works. The one-piece Mercedes brake discs are designed for maximum durability, a long service life, braking power and braking comfort and follow Hella Pagid's original equipment standards.

They are coated against corrosion and are highly carbonised, which, due to the material structure, enables optimum braking performance and cooling thanks to faster heat dissipation. This environmentally friendly and water-based zinc flake coating prevents corrosion on the disc rim and chamber, so that the brake discs still look good after a long time.

“The one-piece brake discs offer excellent value for money. This benefits not only wholesalers, but also workshops and ultimately the end customer,” says Thomas Gorkow, Director Product Management & Marketing at Hella Pagid. In addition, workshops benefit from the fact that, if required, fixing screws are also included in the scope of delivery and this enables quick and easy assembly.

Due to the regulations for the approval of brake discs within the EU (ECE R90), which have been in force for some years now, and the high effort and costs associated with them, the one-piece brake discs are being sold exclusively in countries outside the EU or without the ECE R90 directive for the time being. Starting with the market launch from the end of 2021, 14 one-piece Mercedes brake discs will be offered for approx. 19 Mercedes models from year of manufacture 4/2011 onwards with a wide range of engines, from the C-Class and E-Class to the S-Class, as well as for the GLC SUV models and the all-electric EQC. In the future, the range of one-piece brake discs will be continually expanded across other Mercedes model series.

This extensive coverage with the one-piece Mercedes brake discs means that Hella Pagid will already be serving a vehicle population of more than 5 million vehicles worldwide (outside the EU) from the end of 2021.
