IAA Transportation 2026: FORVIA HELLA presents comprehensive energy management portfolio for commercial vehicles

Lippstadt, 10 September 2026. International automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA will present a comprehensive energy management portfolio for the commercial vehicle segment at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover (Germany). The focus will be on established series products, such as the Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS) and the high-voltage DC/DC converter, as well as two concept innovations that FORVIA HELLA will showcase to a broad commercial vehicle audience for the first time: the intelligent Power Distribution Module (iPDM) and the integrated EnergyCore energy management concept. All four solutions address key requirements related to the electrification of commercial vehicle fleets and the development of efficient, scalable E/E architectures.

Intelligent Power Distribution Module: fail-operational power supply through electronic fuses

As the first product of its kind, FORVIA HELLA’s intelligent Power Distribution Module (iPDM) ensures within a system network a fully fail-operational power supply in the vehicle. The product has already demonstrated its readiness for series production in the automotive sector, where it has been produced in series as a world first since the middle of last year. The iPDM detects in real time which electrical consumers require how much power at any given moment. If potential risks within the E/E architecture arise, for example due to insufficient onboard voltage, the system identifies and isolates these potential faults at an early stage, before they become critical. Unlike conventional E/E architectures currently available on the market, the vehicle’s basic functionality remains intact even in the event of a fault. The system therefore supports fail-operational operation.

For commercial vehicle customers, this creates measurable added value. Within the system network, the iPDM ensures that safety-critical systems, such as braking, steering and driver assistance functions, continue to operate even if faults occur in the onboard electrical system. Higher vehicle availability also means fewer unplanned periods of downtime and greater fleet efficiency, providing a significant competitive advantage in transport operations.

The key component enabling this functionality is the electronic fuse, or eFuse. eFuses measure the power supply with high precision at a frequency 10,000 times faster than the blink of an eye. They use this information to control power distribution according to demand. Unlike conventional fuses, which melt in the event of a fault and must then be replaced, eFuses operate reversibly and require no maintenance. As a result, the iPDM no longer needs to be installed in an easily accessible location within the vehicle. This allows the wiring harness to be designed more flexibly and precisely, with less material and more compact cables, resulting in significantly lower weight.

EnergyCore: highly integrated energy management concept ready for series production

With EnergyCore, FORVIA HELLA is aligning its portfolio toward highly integrated and scalable system solutions for electric mobility. The energy management concept combines various power and battery electronics components in a configurable system approach.Thanks to its modular architecture, EnergyCore is designed to support future vehicle platforms and adapt flexibly to different application requirements. The concept builds on FORVIA HELLA’s expertise in power and battery electronics, from low-voltage to high-voltage applications. This includes battery management and safety-related electronics up to ASIL D. EnergyCore illustrates how integrated X-in-1 approaches can contribute to more efficient electric vehicle architectures.

Long-standing market experience in commercial vehicle electronics

The development of the iPDM and EnergyCore for commercial vehicles builds on FORVIA HELLA’s many years of electronics expertise in this product segment. The company is one of the leading suppliers of intelligent battery sensors and voltage converters. Alongside the iPDM and EnergyCore, these products form the focus of the electronics portfolio that FORVIA HELLA will present at IAA Transportation. The company offers its Intelligent Battery Sensor for both 12-volt and 24-volt onboard electrical systems. The sensor precisely measures voltage, current and temperature and reliably determines key parameters, including state of charge (SoC), state of health (SoH) and state of function (SoF).

FORVIA HELLA has more than 25 years of experience in this product area and delivered more than 20 million battery sensors last year. The high-voltage DC/DC converter, meanwhile, ensures a stable 12-volt power supply in electrified vehicles and achieves a peak efficiency of more than 96 percent. FORVIA HELLA launched its first high-voltage voltage converter into series production in 2025.

At this year’s IAA Transportation, FORVIA HELLA will be present together with FORVIA in Hall 12, Stand 36. The company will also present its integrated strategy across five Business Groups and its growth ambitions in the commercial vehicle segment for the first time.
