IAA Transportation 2026: FORVIA HELLA presents adaptive RGB interior lighting technology for commercial vehicles

Lippstadt, 3 September 2026. At IAA Transportation 2026, international automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA is presenting an adaptive interior lighting concept that combines comfort, visual communication and safety-related functions in a seamlessly integrated surface. Intelligent RGB LED arrays enable dynamic lighting scenarios and communication functions within the driver’s cab. This expertise is already being applied in customer development projects, with a major European commercial vehicle manufacturer currently using FORVIA HELLA’s RGB module technology in the development of a future vehicle program.

In everyday use, lighting can support important information such as distance warnings, battery charge status, incoming calls, vehicle or assistance-system status, as well as welcome and farewell sequences. Color, intensity and dynamic lighting effects can provide an additional visual communication channel and help make selected information easier and more intuitive for the driver to recognize.
Rather than replacing existing displays or acoustic signals, interior lighting can complement them and guide the driver’s attention towards relevant information. At the same time, homogeneous RGB illumination and dynamic light animations can create a pleasant, dimmable ambience during rest phases and at night. The illuminated functions can be seamlessly embedded into different interior surfaces and adapted to the individual cabin architecture. This allows lighting to become part of the overall interior design rather than being treated only as a separate component.
For vehicle manufacturers, this creates additional opportunities for distinctive lighting signatures, personalization and brand identity. Modular lighting concepts also allow common RGB technologies to be adapted across different applications, geometries and vehicle concepts while helping to manage complexity and cost. This combination of design freedom, modularity and technical reliability is becoming increasingly important as commercial vehicle cabins evolve into more sophisticated working and living environments.
FORVIA HELLA will be present at this year's IAA Transportation together with FORVIA (Hall 12, Booth 36). The Group will be presenting its integrated strategy of five business groups as well as its growth ambitions in the commercial vehicle segment for the first time.
