New software solution for professional diagnostics from Hella Gutmann

Lippstadt, 19 June 2024. Small investment, great performance - these are the characteristics of the mega macs PC diagnostic solution from Hella Gutmann. Since its market launch 13 years ago, the software-centered solution has been providing valuable services in both small and large workshops. Depending on requirements, mega macs PC easily takes over the main role for multi-brand vehicle diagnostics or opens up additional capacity for other workstations alongside traditional diagnostic devices. Hella Gutmann is now launching the second generation of the Windows-based diagnostic solution as mega macs PC SE (Second Edition) with new options geared to current requirements. This means, among other things, that vehicle diagnostics with new, ultra-fast data transfer protocols such as DoIP and CAN-FD are also possible.

The basic principle of the Windows-based diagnostic solution remains the same: existing hardware such as a PC, notebook or tablet can be used for operation and data processing and can even be replaced at a later date. The Hella Gutmann software, which is essential for multi-brand diagnostics, and the HG-VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface) for plugging into the vehicle's OBD box are supplied with the mega macs PC SE. Just like the choice of device, the software configuration and licenses can also be flexibly configured. Depending on the needs of a workshop, a body and glass version are also available as an alternative to the full version. The latter have been specially tailored to the usual service and repair scopes of body or glass specialists and are more cost-beneficial than the standard version.

The full version includes reading and resetting fault codes, clearly displaying important parameters, checking the functionality of control units, adapting vehicle functions, basic settings and calibrations as well as simple performing of maintenance routines and service resets. Common to all software versions is the high vehicle coverage which is typical of mega macs - right up to the latest vehicle models whose on-board networks are designed for ultra-fast data transfer via DoIP and CAN-FD. Of course, the mega macs PC SE with an active update license also offers the Cyber Security Management (CSM) function, which enables basic settings and service work to be carried out quickly, even on vehicles with security gateways. Access to technical data and background information, component aids, inspection data, timing belt data and wiring diagrams, as well as the use of technical support from the Hella Gutmann Service Center, are subject to the respective licenses.
