TUNE IT! SAFE! – HELLA supports safety campaign

04-07-2022

At this year's "Interschutz" trade fair in Hanover, the initiative TUNE IT! SAFE! - with the help of a campaign vehicle - is impressively demonstrating that vehicle tuning and vehicle safety do not have to come into conflict with each other. The aim of this nationwide campaign is to take action against unsafe and unlawful tuning. HELLA has supported this campaign for years.

The keypoints in short

  • TUNE IT! SAFE! The campaign provides important educational information and draws attention to substandard or illegal products
  • This campaign is supported by HELLA by means of the surround sound combination for police vehicles
  • Since 2005, the initiative has been under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Transport

Demonstration vehicle at Interschutz 2022

In the entrance area of this year's Interschutz, a real visual highlight attracts the visitors' attention: The initiative TUNE IT! SAFE! together with the Aachen-based tuning specialist AC Schneider showcases an elegant BMW M8501 xDrive Coupé and demonstrates how tuning that complies with regulations and one that is roadworthy works.

In addition to a performance increase from 530 hp to 620 hp, the vehicle, for example, with its stainless steel silencers and lightweight forged wheels had been upgraded and proudly placed centre stage. The blue light system (RTK7) and also the flashing beacons from HELLA and the ""police"" decorative transparencies from another partner succeed in giving the vehicle the typical blue-yellow-silver look of a police vehicle – even though this is, of course, not a normal patrol vehicle. This image vehicle went on a tour of Germany in 2021 as a symbol of the initiative and was presented at various events and trade fairs.

Road safety campaign

The campaign starts every year at the Essen Motor Show with the unveiling of the new souped up police vehicle. This year, too, planning is already in full swing in cooperation with the campaign partners. HELLA supports the campaign with the aim of drawing attention to safe procedures that comply with regulations. The police and testing organisations also support the initiative and are happy to share their expertise in order to draw attention to dubious tuning offers and so that people can increase their own safety.
