The initiative TUNE IT! SAFE! For safe tuning presented at the 2022 Essen Motor Show the BMWi4 as new campaign vehicle in its original police outfit complete with blue lights from HELLA. This vehicle combines sporty performance and electrifying dynamics. HELLA is once again supporting with accessories for the vehicle.
Every year, the initiative uses an individually designed vehicle to show that appealing, creative tuning can certainly be compatible with the legal requirements, and it is not inevitable that such tuning contravenes the law.
This time a fully electric M car, based on a BMW i4 M50 Gran Coupé from the BMW stable, was provided as the campaign vehicle. Aachen-based tuning specialist AC Schnitzer has made this vehicle sportier both in terms of driving dynamics and appearance, by accentuating individual, tailor-made components for a sporty performance way beyond the frontiers of the series. The two BMW eDrive engines used achieve an output of 544 hp in Sport Boost mode with acceleration to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. The top speed is reached at 225 km/h.
This means that the vehicle can create a genuine feeling of motor sport on the road even without a combustion engine and exhaust system.
The tuning expert brings about a considerable improvement in the vehicle’s driving characteristics by using, among other things, front spoiler elements, a front splitter and front side wings. Rear roof spoilers, a carbon rear spoiler and rear side wings were all used at the rear. A design package for the side and also the rear apron protective film highlight the differences between this car and the series very vividly. All this special vehicle equipment is rounded off by the inclusion of extraordinary components in the interior and also by a special wheel set achieving the required lowering of the vehicle.
In December 2022, the Essen Motor Show was the platform for the showcasing of the world premiere of the TUNE IT! SAFE! campaign vehicle. The exhibitors reported that their trade fair partners, exhibition visitors and press representatives were all enthusiastic about the new police vehicle. Special thanks also went to HELLA for supporting the project.
The campaign vehicle will be on display at various events and trade fairs in 2023. On the open road, however, you will unfortunately be searching in vain for it, as it is purely a show vehicle that symbolises roadworthy and rule-compliant tuning.
