"Modular Lightbar" ensures safety in dangerous situations

So as to ensure optimum safety in every operational scenario, the new "Modular Lightbar" from HELLA is available in six lengths ranging from 60.9 to 182.8 cm. The roof bars have between two to ten individual modules and are available in different standard variants or they can be individually configured.

The key points in short

  • The "Modular Lightbar" roof bar offers the option of switching from double to triple flash patterns (ECE-R65)
  • The modular design allows configuration and length to be individually adapted
  • The control unit is available as a wired device or is wireless and it provides visual feedback

Safety in dangerous situations

Warning lamps exist for a reason. They point out to road users that these need to be particularly attentive and concentrated because they will be confronted with an unusual situation. The new ""Modular Lightbar"" roof bar from HELLA ensures that the warning is clearly visible whatever the situation. The focal point here is the long-range amber signal. Depending on requirements, it is possible to switch between double and triple flash patterns. The roof bar, constructed along modular lines, can also be individually configured in order to provide optimum safety in any operational scenario.

The fixed components of the roof bar include the technical base and the side panels with the amber warning light. These can be equipped with additional spotlights, the so-called "alley lights", which brightly illuminate the area next to the vehicle. The centre section is freely configurable and provides space for 2, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 10 individual modules. The length of the roof bar varies accordingly from 60.9 to 182.8 cm.

The individual modules boast bright, energy-efficient LEDs. They can support the classic amber warning light of the side panels or take on important additional functions. A powerful working light, for example, is a great advantage in many areas of application. But also tail light, stop light and direction indicator light can be displayed with its own module. If one of the single modules is damaged, for example by stones or gravel throw, it can be ordered as a spare part and very easily replaced. Only two screws need to be loosened for this.

The system is impressive because of its flat, modern design, which only has an overall height of 52 mm. The Modular Lightbar can be bolted directly to the vehicle roof or mounted slightly higher. The bracket required for this is included in the scope of delivery.

All variants of the Modular Lightbar are approved in accordance with ECE-R65 Class 2. This means that the lamps have a particularly bright day mode and a less bright night mode. In this way optimum visibility is ensured without dazzling other road users. Consequently the roof bar has a less dazzling light output in night mode, which is more comfortable for the eyes in the dark. This is particularly advantageous when work has to be carried out around the vehicle. In day mode, on the other hand, the full light output is available and ensures the giving of a widely visible 360-degree warning signal.

Control unit provides visual feedback

Because warning lamps are often used in dangerous situations, their operation must also be simple, safe and reliable. In the standard version, the Modular Lightbar is controlled by means of a wired control unit. The self-explanatory remote control provides clear visual feedback so that users can always see which lighting functions are activated. In addition, for the first time, there is also a base that is controlled wirelessly via Bluetooth. Unlike other functions, wireless operation cannot be retrofitted. The choice of base therefore also determines the decision for or against wireless operation.
