Main Lighting Modules

High‑performance light at the core delivering safety

and comfort with pixel‑accurate, dynamic lighting in all conditions.

SSL|HD:Thousands of individually controllable pixels

SSL|HD is our top-tier, pixel-accurate matrix module – an evolution of LED matrix systems using Solid State Lighting with micro-LED pixel clusters with up to 25,000 individually controllable pixels per chip. It delivers high-resolution, glare-free illumination and enables advanced ADB functions such as lane assist, symbol projection and safety zones for improved safety and comfort. Proven in series production, SSL|HD supports software-defined features and on-demand function activation, and it enables a one-world headlamp concept through fully digital, region-specific light distributions. For complete field coverage and premium main‑beam performance, SSL|HD is typically combined with support modules – most commonly a BiMatrix.

SSL|Scalable: Pixel‑accurate, configurable performance

SSL|Scalable extends Solid State Lighting to broader segments with configurable pixel classes and a software‑defined feature set. It delivers glare‑free ADB functions with dynamic pixel control while tailoring pixel count, optics, and feature profiles to platform needs. Its compact module design improves styling freedom and reduces installation space, supporting efficient packaging across trims and regions. As a software‑driven digital light, it enables updates over the vehicle lifetime and supports a one‑world headlamp concept that maps regional light distributions fully digitally. For complete forward coverage, SSL|Scalable is typically paired with a BiLED support module.

Pixel‑accurate, configurable performance

BiMatrix: One‑eye matrix ADB — versatile, accessible, proven

BiMatrix brings adaptive beam shaping to mainstream programs with a classic projection lens and up to 17 matrix zones. As a bi‑functional module for low and high beam, it delivers glare‑free ADB with selective masking, speed‑ and environment‑aligned light distribution, and other core adaptive functions. As the only FORVIA HELLA standalone ‘one‑eye’ matrix module, it provides the most accessible path to matrix functionality within our portfolio. Series‑proven electronics and optics, adjustable performance levels, and scalable configurations make BiMatrix a versatile mid‑level all‑rounder that supports platform tailoring across trims and regions.

2Row Matrix: High‑output, matrix complement

2Row Matrix is a classic projection‑lens module that adds high‑output, matrix‑guided ADB to multi‑module headlamp architectures. It provides low and high beam on its own, while an additional support module handles the prefield to ensure a fully legal projection while optimizing performance and cost. The module’s matrix enables glare‑free high beam, while in low beam it extends the projection range. Software‑defined distributions support dynamic bending light, tourist‑market RHD/LHD adaptation, and a one‑world headlamp concept across regions. Paired with a BiLED, the 2Row Matrix forms the strongest non‑SSL combination for light performance; in asymmetric setups with SSL|HD, it helps maintain performance while reducing cost.

BiLED: One-eye main lighting – simple, proven, scalable

BiLED is a proven main lighting module for low and high beam in a classic projection lens design, prioritizing durability, efficiency, and integration simplicity for high‑volume platforms. As a standalone ‘one‑eye’ module, it enables full front lighting without additional support modules. It delivers precise, uniform road illumination with a clean cut‑off, instantaneous low‑to‑high switching, and consistent photometric performance. Typically specified as a static main lighting module, BiLED can be equipped with lower‑complexity adaptive functions – such as town, country and motorway light – to add practical versatility, while its streamlined architecture keeps system complexity and total cost of ownership low.

CuBeam: Ultra‑slim, efficient, freeform flexibility

CuBeam compresses depth to enable signature‑forward headlamp designs in efficient packaging while delivering full‑performance light. Its direct‑incoupling optical concept – with or without an additional optical lens – supports full low/high‑beam performance in a very compact architecture. Crucially, cuBeam enables freeform placement – horizontal, vertical, or anywhere in between – and scales from one‑ to multi‑eye setups for distinctive styling and rapid platform adaptation. Depth reductions of about 60% versus standard BiLED and optical efficiencies exceeding 80% versus conventional slim modules are achievable. Direct corner‑light integration cuts components and packaging effort, improving total cost of ownership.

Slim Reflector: Ultra-slim, modular reflector

Slim Reflector replaces the classic projection lens with a compact reflector architecture to reduce depth and enable slimmer headlamp designs while delivering full‑performance light and efficient packaging. Variants support bi‑functions and matrix‑guided adaptations, allowing low and high beam from one module as well as targeted light distributions to fit platform needs. Slim styling down to 10 mm supports signature‑forward designs. As a lean alternative to classic lens‑based modules, Slim Reflector provides greater styling freedom versus regular projection‑lens modules, with modular configurations across use cases.

Signal Lighting

Signal lighting

Our advanced signal lighting technologies shape an instantly recognizable

front signature ensuring unmistakable recognition, day and night.

FlatLight: Ultra‑slim, affordable homogeneity

Our award-winning FlatLight technology enables distinctive front light signatures with complex welcome and farewell scenarios in an ultra‑slim 5 mm package. It integrates multiple signal functions and multi‑color combinations in one optical element, reducing installation space by around 80 percent versus conventional solutions. Micro‑optics, smaller than a grain of salt deliver superior homogeneity. The technology is about 40 percent more energy‑efficient and 80 percent lighter than comparable systems, with proven series use at the rear and now also launching in front applications. The FlatLight family includes different variants, as well as the premium Digital FlatLight.

Essential EdgeLight: Sculptural, cover‑free 3D edge light

Essential EdgeLight transforms signal lighting into a sculptural, precise and three‑dimensional signature – engineered as a cover‑free exterior element that needs no separate end cap, as the robust light guide acts as the outer lens. With Essential EdgeLight optics, multiple signal functions can be implemented in just a single chamber. Horizontal, vertical, or combined orientations – and lengths up to roughly 1.7 meters – enable extensive, wrap‑around signatures with sharp, premium presence. “Essential” stands for a considerable reduction in components – supporting more sustainable product designs, reducing complexity, and enabling modern, sculptural signal lighting.
