07/11/2019

With this type of repair, the customer complained that the oil pressure warning lamp of his Subaru Impreza (model year 2010-2014, engine code FB 16 E / FB 20E) lights up while the car is being driven.

Troubleshooting

As part of the troubleshooting, the oil level was first checked and filled to the required level. Subsequently, electrical and mechanical tests were carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications to exclude other possible causes of malfunction, but these did not reveal any cause of faults.

The solution

In this case, the cause of the above-mentioned problem is a faulty protective cap for the switch of the oil pressure warning light. This malfunction can lead to water ingress and consequently to a short circuit.

Repair tip

Check the switch of the oil pressure warning light and replace if necessary. Check the wiring harness and the plug connection for corrosion, contamination and damage and clean or replace if necessary. Replace the faulty protective cap with a new one. OE article number: 22187AA080
