The coolant cooler is the most important component of a cooling module. It consists of a cooler core and water tank with all the necessary connectors and attachment elements. The heat generated by combustion in the engine is absorbed by the coolant and discharged to the outside air via the cooler. Coolant coolers are installed in the air flow of the vehicle's front end.

Dissipating the heat in high-power passenger car engines requires not only high-capacity coolers, but blowers and blower drives capable of providing an efficient supply of cooling air as well. Visco® fans consist of a fan wheel and a Visco® clutch. They are used in engines installed lengthwise and are assembled in driving direction in front of the cooler.
The Visco® clutch establishes, relative to the temperature, the frictional connection to the fan wheel and impacts its speed. The drive torque is transmitted to the fan wheel via wear-free fluid friction. The electrically driven Visco® clutch is directly controlled by sensors. Cooling as needed optimizes the coolant temperature level, engine noise level and fuel consumption
A condenser or cooler fan consists of an electric motor with a flange-mounted fan wheel. They are mounted in front of or behind the condenser or cooler. They remove heat from the refrigerant or coolant via the generated air flow. Air-conditioned vehicles primarily use an additional or more powerful blower.
The cabin heat exchanger is located inside the vehicle cabin underneath the dashboard. The air flow produced by the cabin fan is routed through the cabin heat exchanger, which has coolant flowing through it. The air heated here is then discharged into the vehicle cabin.
