HELLA presents innovative lighting solutions for agricultural machinery at SIMA 2022 in Paris and EIMA 2022 in Bologna

25-10-2022

HELLA, the lighting and electronics expert operating under the FORVIA umbrella brand, will be presenting innovative lighting solutions for agricultural machinery at the two leading international trade fairs for agriculture, EIMA, from November 9 to 13, 2022 in Bologna (Hall 18, Stand B3), and SIMA, from November 6 to 10, 2022 in Paris (Hall 5B, Stand C065). HELLA's trade fair presence will focus primarily on customised products that enable individual design and high brand recognition, as well as new intelligent lighting solutions for agricultural and construction machinery.

The keypoints in short

  • Customised lighting products enable unique and distinctive design
  • Intelligent lighting solutions by HELLA improve efficiency, occupational safety and comfort
  • K-LED Nano: the smallest homologated beacon for vehicles with height restrictions so far

Customised lighting solutions for unmistakable design

Distinctive and unique design is also playing an increasingly important role in agricultural and construction machinery and other industrial vehicles. This can be achieved, among other things, with customised LED lighting solutions. True to the motto "from professional to professional", HELLA develops and produces products that are precisely designed to the needs of customers and optimally implement the requirements of manufacturers and designers. At EIMA and SIMA, HELLA will be exhibiting a range of customised lighting solutions produced for well-known agricultural machinery manufacturers.

S series work lamps with innovative LED technology

"Simple, steady and streamlined" - this is the motto of the new S series. The work lamps in this series offer innovative LED technology and complement the Module 70, Module 90 and Power Beam families of work lamps. The work lamps provide homogeneous illumination with a color temperature of around 6,500 Kelvin, which is similar to daylight. Compared to halogen units, the S series scores with high efficiency. The integrated electronics protect the unit in the event of reverse polarity and ensure constant brightness even with fluctuating operating voltages of 9 to 32 volts DC.  Depending on the model, the S series is available in round or square design, as well as surface-mounted or recessed versions.

The Module 70 and Power Beam models are available in 1,000 and 1,850 lumen versions, and the Module 90 is available in 1,850 and extremely high 4,000 lumen versions. Thanks to the universal and slim design, vehicle manufacturers can easily and quickly convert existing halogen head lamps to LED technology. The housing and also the cover lens are made of special plastics, which on the one hand lead to a reduction in weight and on the other hand have a high corrosion resistance. The new cooling fin design is not only modern, but also ensures optimum heat dissipation, thus increasing the efficiency and service life of the work lamps. The s Series work lamps are available in close-range and long-range illumination. Further model and illumination variants are already under development.

Trend-setting and intelligent: SMART Modular Work lamp

The intelligent and pioneering SMART Modular Work lamp lighting system was developed to improve occupational safety and comfort in off-highway applications. The SMART Modular Work lamp series consists of built-in modules that are fully integrated into the cab roof and are therefore better protected from external influences. At the same time, the system meets the demand for individual vehicle design, which is becoming increasingly important in the off-highway vehicle sector. The SMART Modular Work lamp series is a further development of the Modular Work lamp series, the design of which has been adapted to the Shapeline range of lights and is available in two design lines: the classic, straight-line "TECH" and the curved, dynamic "STYLE" variant

The SMART Modular Work lamp is controlled via vehicle intelligence. A new wiring harness or changes to the existing wiring harnesses are therefore not required. The gateway from HELLA communicates with the existing user interface of the machine via CAN- BUS and passes on commands to the HELLA Work lamp. This allows manufacturers to offer optional lighting packages without having to change the vehicle architecture.

In conjunction with on-board object detection, the system also opens up numerous new, optional applications: Detected persons or obstacles could, for example, be specifically illuminated with light and thus warned, or the driver's self-dazzle caused by dust or attachments could be minimised by dimming individual segments.

Picture of the beacon K-LED Nano

K-LED Nano: smallest homologated beacon for vehicles with height restrictions to date.

Another trade fair highlight from HELLA is the K-LED Nano. With a height of just 68 millimeters, it offers LED technology in the smallest of spaces. This makes it particularly suitable for municipal vehicles, tractors and large vehicles that have to comply with a height restriction or have little mounting space available. The K-LED Nano uses flashing light to generate a long-range, yellow warning signal to alert other road users and secure operating sites. It has a particularly high light intensity, for which it is approved in accordance with the European ECE standard R65 Class 1 and the American SAE standard J845 Class 1.

HELLA offers the beacon in three different mounting variants. With a bolt circle diameter of 130 millimeters, the standard version covers the usual HELLA mounting points and thus enables a one-to-one replacement, for example if an upgrade to LED technology is desired. A slim variant with a diameter of 109 millimeters is also available for vehicle manufacturers on request. In addition, customers can also obtain a variant with flexible tube socket mounting. Here, the shock-absorbing and vibration-damping base tilts briefly by up to 45 degrees and cushions even strong impacts.
