Lippstadt / Germany, March 17, 2016. At bauma, the world’s largest trade fair for construction, building materials, mining machines, construction vehicles and equipment, which will be held in Munich from April 11 to 17, 2016, the lighting and electronics specialist HELLA will present its comprehensive product range. The highlight of the company’s exhibits (Hall A5, Booth 436) will be the world premiere of the specially conceived “Genius Cab”, which was developed by HELLA together with known OEM suppliers and renowned scientists in the industry. In the area of lighting, HELLA will also present the latest LED work lights, including two headlamps with ZEROGLARE technology that were specially developed for the mining sector. Exhibits from the field of electronics include a radio remote control to unlock the door and a rain/light sensor.

In the specially conceived Genius Cab – which is the result of a Cab Concept Cluster Cooperation between noted OEM suppliers and renowned scientists in the industry – all the partners contributed their core competencies, showing very clearly how cooperation can design more efficient systems. As the lighting and electronics expert, Hella contributed the LED work lights, the signature light, the interior lighting, the radio remote control to unlock the door, the accelerator pedal and the rain/light sensor. Since the major Genius Cab presentation will be at the individual cluster partners’ booths, a special app, “Genius Cab Walk & Win”, has been developed for Android and Apple to guide bauma visitors directly to the relevant booths. You will find more information about the Genius Cab at www.cabconceptcluster.com.

With the second generation Ultra Beam LED HELLA has expanded its popular work light series to include an LED variant offering up to 4000 measured lumens, which is even more than Xenon work lights. Thanks to its innovative LED technology, the Ultra Beam LED offers convincingly low power consumption – only 56 watts – durability, no maintenance and a light color very close to daylight, which prevents fatigue and allows comfortable working even at night. With a specially developed multi-facetted reflector, the light from the LEDs is perfectly distributed and delivers homogenous illumination. Thanks to different lenses, the work light can be used for close-range as well as long-range illumination. As a result, this light is ideal for a variety of work situations involving construction machinery.

HELLA’s booth at the fair will also feature the LED work lights RokLUME 380 and RokLUME 280, which have been specially developed for the mining sector. There are five different illumination variants, including the ZEROGLARE variant with which HELLA has created a new lighting standard for the mining sector. The ZEROGLARE system specifically aims light from the LEDs towards the ground in front of the vehicle, creating a very clear-cut boundary between light and dark. This means that drivers of oncoming vehicles are not dazzled, thus extending the safety and comfort of the automobile industry to the mining sector. The light output of the LED work lights RokLUME 380 and RokLUME 280 is up to 7500 and 4300 measured lumens respectively, and their color temperature is 5000°Kelvin, which is very similar to daylight. This markedly improves the driver’s ability to concentrate, because it is less fatiguing to the human eye.

Although HELLA originally started out in the field of lighting technology, the company long ago matured into a comprehensive and competent solution partner for vehicle electronics. Today, HELLA is specifically extending the central issues of the automotive industry – such as increasing energy efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions and increasing safety and comfort – into the field of construction machinery with its inherently high standards. In this context HELLA is also exhibiting a variety of innovative electronic solutions at bauma, such as a radio remote control to unlock the door and a rain/light sensor. The radio remote control was specifically developed for use in harsh conditions. The radio remote control has up to four output signals, enabling the user to use it to activate other functions such as work lights or other lamps. The rain/light sensor is specially designed for vehicles with steep windshields. The rain sensor is able to recognize a variety of rain situations and controls the windshield wipers in such a way that the driver will hardly ever need to intervene. The light sensor controls switching the low-beam lights on and off under various lighting conditions and in specific situations such as in tunnels.
