Trucks load and unload containers, workers in blue overalls tear down wall panelling and carry rubbish bags outside: extensive demolition work has begun on the old production halls on the western side of the HELLA headquarters on Rixbecker Strasse. Since the end of last year, the local demolition company entrusted with the project has been gradually working its way from the inside to the outside. This means clearing out and gutting, dismantling and disposing of waste - until only the shell remains. The transitional connection to the western site and the outer walls shall then come down by the middle of the year. Until recently, teams from Lifecycle Solutions and IT still had their offices on the east site, with a total of 400 employees. At the end of last year, they moved into newly refurbished offices in building B3 so that the demolition work could begin.
