While the driver is turning the steering wheel, the HELLA Steering Sensor registers the torque applied on the column by the driver. The information is provided to the steering control module to calculate the appropriate assistance needed to support the driver’s action.
The steering torque sensor is integrated in the electromechanical power steering and provides the customer with information on the steering torque.
The sensor records the torsion bar angle required for the steering movement.
