The electrification of the automobile is progressing steadily. However, there are still many challenges to tackle along the way: End users are demanding longer ranges as well as short and fast charging cycles. Manufacturers, on the other hand, need to minimize the impact on battery life through short charge cycles and are looking for ways to use of the heat energy generated and to reduce the complexity in the coolant circuit. One key to successful electrification is efficient thermal management. With the Coolant Control Hub (CCH), HELLA offers an innovative subsystem that revolutionizes thermal management in the vehicle. It consists of a multi-way valve, actuator, distribution system, pumps, expansion tank and heat exchanger. It connects up to three circuits: the power electronics and electric machines circuit, the battery circuit as well as the cabin circuit. This leads to a reduced number of components in the overall system up to 50%.
