Interior Lighting

As in other sectors, LED lights becoming an increasingly popular light source for interior lighting. Already a long-established fixture on the instrument panel, these lights are now also used in interior lighting and reading lamps, mainly because of their stable output, the versatility of white and coloured LEDs, and their low energy consumption compared to filament bulbs. This means that, besides providing functional lighting, there are wide-ranging opportunities to use them in decorative design elements in the cockpit.

Overhead Consoles

HELLA Group’s high level of expertise is exemplified by its overhead consoles offering comprehensive functionality in a very compact space. Numerous factors, not least the advancement of LED technology and our in-house ability to combine the development of reliable electronics with precision design, have made it possible for us to repeatedly set new standards for function modules integrated into the headlining, and central control units for controlling interior lighting and reading lamps, ambient lighting, sun screens, sliding roofs and interior monitoring systems.

Interior Lighting and Reading Lamps

As the design space gradually shrinks, conventional bulbs no longer fit in the places where their use was once commonplace. Increasingly powerful and versatile LEDs now offer outstanding lighting quality even in the smallest of spaces. The flattest reading lamp in the HELLA range is just 8 mm deep. Combined with a high-grade reflector and the right design, the quality of interior lighting and reading lamps is unprecedented.

Ambient Lighting

The term “ambient lighting” refers, as in architecture, to a low level of lighting that is just enough to illuminate the space around us. This type of lighting also plays a decorative role and, combined with the right design, can accentuate specific features of the interior design and can be remarkably effective if used unpredictably in transparent materials. This is another area in which HELLA Group sets the benchmark with cutting-edge LED and light-guide technology.

Car Body Lighting

Our range of small and ultra-small lamps are used to illuminate the footwells, the glovebox, the luggage compartment, and the front passenger’s vanity mirror.

Together, lamps for universal and special-purpose use underpin HELLA’s many years’ experience in the development of lighting. Reliable design and the use of processes that help to conserve natural resources and reduce the environmental impact guarantee excellent value for money.

Radomes

“Radome” is an aerospace term referring to a dome located in front of a radar system that is usually visibly attached to the vehicle’s radiator grille. It protects the sensitive radar head from external influences without compromising the guaranteed and optimal radar range.
HELLA leads the world in sustainable and precision radome development and manufacture. It draws on cutting-edge 3D visualisation tools to support customers as they implement their individual design proposals.

Lighting Electronics Components

HELLA Group is the first manufacturer of high-mounted LED brake lights and has many years’ experience of lighting electronics manufacture. We draw on all this experience in the development and manufacture of electronic components for lighting control, such as contactless switches and interior sensors.
