Car body lighting:
Diverse safety lighting

In 1993, HELLA used LEDs as a light source in the third brake light for the first time. This was the first ever use of light-emitting diodes in exterior vehicle lighting. Since then, the market for car body lighting has changed: nowadays, various optical elements can be used to bring the design of the third brake light closer into line with that of the rear lamp. What’s more, no special anti-theft device is required for number plate lights, as the light source no longer needs to be replaced. In addition to the signalling functions at the rear of the vehicle, the car body lighting integrated into the front of the vehicle plays an important role in the HELLA portfolio. Functions such as parking lights, direction indicators and/or daytime running lights, previously integrated in the main headlamps, are now built into the front of the vehicle as separate lights. This is reinforcing the trend towards individualisation.

HELLA offers an extensive portfolio for all these products: Drawing on our years of experience, we are developing cost-efficient solutions based on standard components, but also customer-specific products that are design-oriented.
