HELLA signs an agreement with BHAP and Farasis for strategic cooperation

Complementary advantages to create a new platform for Battery Management System (BMS) research and development

Shanghai, April 16, 2019. Lighting and electronics expert HELLA, signed a strategic agreement with Beijing Hainachuan Automotive Parts Co., Ltd. (BHAP), and Farasis Energy (Ganzhou) Co., Ltd., focusing on the research and production of lithium batteries and related products for vehicles. The signing ceremony was held on April 16th during Auto Shanghai. The purpose of the new cooperation will be the development and manufacturing of automotive electronic products for battery systems.

Frank Petznick, responsible for the Electronics business of HELLA in China, said: "HELLA has the clear strategy to accompany its customers comprehensively on their way to full electrification. We are therefore very happy to strengthen our position in China in the area of electromobility by a cooperating closely with our partners BHAP and Farasis.”

Cai Suping, Vice President of BAIC Group and Chairman of BHAP highlighted the solid partnership between BHAP and HELLA during the past years. He pointed out, " Together with HELLA and Farasis, we will fully integrate our respective technological advantages and channel resources and give full play to the platform advantages. We can bring safe and reliable innovative products to create tomorrow’s mobility.”

"Collaborating with HELLA and BHAP on the development and production will bring innovative technologies, accelerate products development and achieve better applications,” Yu Wang, the Chairman and President of Farasis said. “The Battery Management System we are going to work on can be applied to 12V, 48V and even high voltage automotive battery systems."

Based on the cooperation agreement, HELLA, as an expert in automotive electronic products, has rich accumulation in the research and development of battery sensors and battery management system. It will give full play to its own hardware & software resources and the advantages of lean manufacturing. As a leading company focusing on the development and production of lithium-ion batteries, Farasis' R&D and production capabilities of battery systems and sub-components will further consolidate this cooperation and ensure technical support in battery systems and cell chemistry for the development of battery management systems. In order to jointly develop battery management system, BHAP will make every effort to build a global platform for sharing and integrating spare parts resources, optimize the cooperative ecology, cohesively condense joint efforts, and give full play to the advantages of lightweight technology, market channels and other aspects.
