Shanghai, 12 December 2025. International automotive supplier FORVIA HELLA has been recognized with two major technology awards in China for its pioneering electronic fuse (eFuse) solution iConF (intelligent, configurable electronic fuse). The company received the Developing and Innovation Award from “Automobile & Parts,” the renowned industry magazine and an authoritative professional media viewer in China, as well as the Golden Ball Award from “Gaogong AI”, a leading research platform focused on the intelligent automotive industry and a leader in integrating resources and capital within the intelligent vehicle supply chain. With iConF, FORVIA HELLA is the first automotive supplier worldwide to combine an electronic fuse with a specially designed ASIC chip and intelligent control software. Unlike conventional fuses, iConF protects the electrical circuits in vehicles with intelligent, scalable and software-controlled protection. The "China Automotive and Parts Industry Development & Innovation Awards", which has been held for 13 consecutive years, and the "Golden Ball Award", which has been held for 9 consecutive years, honor outstanding technologies, products, and brands, celebrating domestic and international innovation, credibility, and leadership that drive the advancement of China’s automotive industry.

Traditional fuse boxes with melting fuses, long used to protect vehicle electrical systems, are increasingly seen as inadequate in meeting the needs of modern vehicles.

FORVIA HELLA’s innovative eFuse solution iConF is a proactive response to these industry shifts and challenges. The iConF solution enables real-time monitoring of the vehicle’s power supply, predictive protection against potential failure risks, and ensures that critical vehicle functions – such as driver assistance, steering, and braking systems – remain operational even in the potential event of electrical faults. This proactive, intelligent safety is essential for enhancing vehicle safety, ensuring the reliability of intelligent assisted driving systems, and supporting the development of Software Defined Vehicles.

Vertically integrated design and flexible platform adaptation

FORVIA HELLA’s iConF covers all application scenarios required for Software Defined Vehicles. The solution integrates with in-house developed ASIC, firmware and intelligent control software, delivering a single, scalable solution for all E/E architectures. This vertical integration enables seamless integration and control of vehicle functions – such as sensors and actuators within scalable architectures, and allows for flexible adaptation to different vehicle platforms, providing OEMs with a true one-stop solution.

Modular and scalable architecture ready for future technologies

The iConF solution features a modular and scalable architecture, supporting the easy integration of new functions and technologies. This ensures that vehicle platforms can keep pace with technological advancements, quickly adapt to market changes, and remain future-ready.

Reducing wiring harnesses and ECUs, lowering weight and complexity Integrating the iConF eFuse solution enables a reduction of up to 30 percent of copper within wiring harness, due to reduction of length and diameter. This streamlined architecture not only reduces vehicle weight and complexity but also enhances energy efficiency and supports greater sustainability. In addition, iConF’s modular design lowers system costs and further improves efficiency.

Flexible integration to meet diverse customer needs

The iConF can be supplied as part of FORVIA HELLA’s Zone Controllers, or as a standalone component for seamless integration into OEM-developed zonal architectures. This enables OEMs to leverage their own zonal controller designs while benefiting from FORVIA HELLA’s advanced eFuse technology and system expertise.
